Apps and software

One thing we have noticed in this age of technology and with the travel we do is the amount of people we talk to that don’t know about some of the apps and software that are out there to help us. Even with Airbnb being so widely used I still meet people who haven’t heard of it. So we have a list of the apps and software we use the most.

Airbnb, well we haven’t gone wrong using this service as you get a lot more bang for your buck staying in a Airbnb property. Most of the time we look for a place to stay by ourselves but lately we have started doing the private room as it’s a great way to meet other people. Make sure you check it out here. There are some cities where Airbnb may not be practical such as Las Vegas where there are some really amazing hotels available on the strip for a really great price. Don’t get us wrong as we have stayed in some really great hotels/resorts over the years.

Uber is another great service but we haven’t been able to use it as much as we would have liked yet. More or less a private taxi service where the rate is already calculated before you get in the car so you don’t get ripped off. This service will be getting a workout on our trip to Europe.

Sean’s Go to Apps

I’m a bit old school as I use One Note. I just love it for organising sights and things to do and I can also link my google map saves to it. Another app I like is Trover as you can share your travel photos to it and like minded travellers can share there discoveries. Good way to find hidden spots.

Leeann’s Go to Apps

I like to use TripIt to keep all the details of flights, accommodation, rail and restaurants. This way I have my bookings in one place including booking references. Another great app for iPhone users is Wallet. I can have all of my airline boarding passes, and Airbnb property details saved in one place where I don’t need to be able to access data to view them. Great for overseas travel where data roaming charges are horrendous.
