Day 0.5: Buenos Aires

buenos aires

We had a really easy run through customs in Buenos Aires. The people in the bag x-ray area didn’t even seem to care we were there or acknowledge our existence. It was somewhat ‘laid back’ to say the least. We followed the instructions given to us by our Airbnb host on getting to our accommodation. A fixed taxi fare of 530 pesos through Taxiezeiza for a 30-40 minutes drive through several tolls. One thing you will need to do is not focus on the crazy drivers here. They don’t stay within their lanes at all!! Focus on the scenery otherwise you may get a little anxious!

The apartment is everything, plus more, than we expected. A two bedroom, two bathroom lovely little place with a balcony over the street. You can check this property out here. Once we settled in, we did a supply run down to ‘Disco’ which is a local supermarket that has everything including beer, wines and spirits. Due to the exchange rate being favourable to the kiwi dollar, we were able to get beer, two bottles of wine and snacks for around $50. Don’t bother with purchasing duty free at the airport as it seems that spirits are cheaper in the local shops.
